Hi,

I'm looking for some advice on German PanzerGrenadiers at 1500pts - the units are expensive so it seems like I'm not going to get everything I'd like...

Here's what I'm thinking about

Company HQ, Anti Tank rifles, spZB41 gun and 2 half tracks 135 points
Armoured PG's 6 teams 285 points
1 Motorised PG's 6 teams 220 points
1 Motorised Heavy platoon 2 MG sections and 1 Mortar section 230 points
2 8-Rad Armoured Cars (recon) 90 points
3 StuG G Assault Guns 550 points

It's totally 1510 points - any suggestions?

Cheers
Spiky

Looks pretty funky Steve.

Your Anti-Tank function is taken care of by the StuGs mainly, but the Anti-Tank rifles and SpzB41 gun would also annoy Soviet light tanks like my T-70s.

You have good anti-horde resources in the shape of the motorised heavy Machine guns, and the mortars.

The armoured PG platoon would be ideal for racing across the battlefield, or up a flank and seizing and holding an objective. The motorised PG platoon could sit and hold one of your own two objectives without many problems, or advance some and set up a fairly tough perimeter, with the option to get back in their buses and advance further.

I'm not entirely convinced about the recon unit, but thats mainly as I havn't fully studied their benefits - and I am just buying the components to establish a Soviet recon company myself, so I can't quibble too much! As most of the rest is pretty much essential, maybe this is your adjustment factor? Mind you, some of those German armoured cars are practically as good as tanks in their own right.

Looks good on the whole, And I'm very much looking forward to going up against' em!

P.

Hi Pete,

The armoured cars seem to be well liked on the FOW forum to help prevent ambushing. I'm not well versed on the game rules and to be honest I don't know how the ambushing rules work - it may be redundant at our club if no-one uses ambushers but at the end of the day they're only 90 points...

I'm a few points over the limit so I'll probably remove either the AT guns or the spZB41 and stick panzerknackers on the HQ and PZG platoons instead

Cheers
Steven
