I had a good look through the OSTFRONT book on Tuesday night and have decided to go completly different and go with the Italians!

So be ready to face little 'toy' tanks, massed infantry and lots of arty! :)

I took a good look at the Flames Of War forums - with slight tweaks to the support platoons it enables them to fit into any Era - great for me as I am not patient enough to paint up another force for different era's.

Ahh!! Excellente! Bravissimo! Va bene!

I think thats an terrific choice, the Italians were a rather maligned force in real life, but in Flames of War they have a damn good and very characterful army list - and (along with my own Soviets) a nice spread of ability - from elite troops to complete cannon fodder.

And, when you are asking other club members for a game - considering we are rather heavily subscribed with German players, having something different is always a bonus. I would certainly be very happy to game against you :)

By the way, does this mean we can call you 'Bennito' from now on ? ;)

Quick question for someone with the OSTFRONT army book...

I have brought all models required for an Italian 1500 point army with the exception of artillery - could someone please tell me how many guns make up the following artillery platoons? I think it was 4 but I am not sure?

100/17 Howitzer
75/27 Howitzer

Also I am a bit confused about the Artillery HQ do you have to include one if you have Artillery?

If someone could look in the book and let me know that would be fantastic :D

Incase your interested here is the army list...

Company HQ (Anti tank rifles)
Fucilieri Platoon (Max)
Fucilieri Platoon (Max)
Fucilieri Platoon (Max)
Machine-gun Platoon
Mortar Platoon
75/27 Howitzer Platoon
100/17 Howitzer Platoon
L6/40 Platoon
Semovente 47/32 Platoon

Hi Bennitto :)

The Artillery Batteries are made up of two Gun sections, each of two guns. So four guns for a complete Artillery battery. The 100/17s are direct upgrade replacements for the default 75/27s at the cost of +20 points per Gun section.

Yes you do need the Artillery HQ. Looks like you get the Staff team (allows repeat fires on following turns) and an Observer rifle team thrown in, as well as the Artillery Officer stand, the Soviets usually have to pay extra for such luxuries.

Your list looks damn good, nice and balanced with lots of tactical options open to you - I'm really looking forward to gaming against your Ragazzi!

P.

Well have now had a chance to read throughly through the OSTFRONT Italian Army List - Thanks Pete.

Here is the list...

Company HQ
Solothurn x3

Fucilieri Platoon 4 squads
Upgrade to Rifle/MG teams

Fucilieri Platoon 4 squads
Upgrade to Rifle/MG teams

Fucilieri Platoon 4 squads
Upgrade to Rifle/MG teams

Artillery battery (75/27), 2 sections

Artillery battery, 2 sections
Upgrade to 105/17

Self propelled platoon 4 Semovente
Upgrade all with AAMG

Machine gun platoon, 2 sections

Light Tank 6 L6/40

Mortar platoon 3 sections

Regimental Gun Platoon

Total: 1505pt

If it is not okay to go 5 points over then remove AAMG from one Semovente -5pt
(Is the point total the defined max or is there 5 / 10% leeway?)

I'm sure that a mere 5 or so points would not be an issue, not at our club anyway. And I'm glad your army is coming together, Andy!

Peter.
